The weather is one thing you can not control in a wedding event.  You can plan everything else but no matter what you do weather is out of your hands. As a photographer, well, bad weather is something you can plan for.  Obviously you hope you don’t have to deal with it.But you want to be ready for whatever weather may happen if you have been assigned a job to do the pictures. So here are some useful tips you can follow in case of bad weather in a wedding day.

First and foremost you need a backup plan. But no matter what you do you still need to prepare another option for those outdoor shots you planned to capture.  As a wedding photographer San Diego I usually don’t have to worry about this. But there will be times when bad weather happens. The thing you can do is ensure that you have a backup location that is ready if the weather does get bad.You can plan the photographs you will take with a backup place identified.

Another thing you can do is plan to have more time for the wedding photos. What this gives you is the opportunity to cover or hide yourself when it is showering. You can hurriedly take photos when the rain lets up.  I have had to do this several times as a San Diego photographer. It will work but it is not the best way to take photographs.

Finally you must have set up umbrellas.Sometimes the weather will not let up and umbrellas will let you take them anyway.  In my San Diego portrait photographer business we already have umbrellas ready for many reasons.  In reality taking photos with overcast skies look great in pictures.  So it isn’t all bad.

So there are plenty of tips you can use to make the very best out of a bad weather in a wedding event.  As mentioned you can’t control the weather but you can control your plans and still have great photos.

10 Tips Used by Great Wedding Event Planners

There are many tips that you can use to become a wedding event planner and become one of the best, however, you need to know that to become an excellent event planner you need to pay attention to the fine details and offer the best to your clients. Successful wedding event coordinators often find it takes a good amount of time away from their other normal daily activities. To become an event planner you need to put forth a lot of energy and time.

1. The first tip and the most important one is that you need to get in contact with some of the best places to get supplies.

In addition to good connections you will need a business contract with many suppliers and this will enable you to offer the best to your clients too. Remember when you have the best suppliers, your reputation will be excellent.

2. You always need to give several options to your clients.

Have a least a dozen venders that you work with on a regular basis so that your clients can choose from a few options. When you give your clients options they will feel more involved in the planning process.

3. You will need to give a good amount of thought to the type of events you will be planning through the entire event, before, during, and after the wedding.

Weddings all range in size from small to huge, but no matter the size you need to come up with creative ways to bring life to the celebration. Wedding planners each have their own style, but if you stay well informed on all the new trends and event activities, you will be able to add your own great personal touch that clients are looking for.

4. If you are coordinating a multicultural wedding, then you will need to become familiar with both cultures and find out what they want presented in the wedding.

This will give you a better understanding of the traditions that they want to honor.

5. Business location is another thing to consider.

Is your office somewhere respectable or in the ghetto? It is important to make sure your clients feel comfortable when visiting your office. This will enable you to have even more potential new customers.

6. As an event planner you need to learn how to communicate effectively.

One way to do this, would be to review every single detail of the event with your clients. Remember, the celebration is not for you, but for the client. You need to keep that in mind. Even if you think something is wrongfully place, listen to your clients needs and wants.

7. Always keep a list of all your satisfied clients and keep in touch with them because this will be a great way to enhance your reputation.

Use them as references, but always ask before giving out any information. They will be able to provide future clients insights on the quality of your work.

8. You may also want to ask your clients if you can take general pictures of the event so that future clients will be able to see what exactly you are capable of doing.

As new clients see your work, they will want to hire you on the spot.

9. Budgeting is something you will need to work closely with your client on especially before ordering any supplies.

Once you have a working budget, then you can let your clients know what they can expect for their money and remember to always give them options. You should always offer them the best options they can have, which will still be within their budget. As you make the event one to remember and stay within the budget, you will find your business will grow in no time. The two very imporant things to consider and that matter are the overall design and the cost of the event. 10. The final tip is to have a fantastic, upbeat personality when you interact with others.

You will need to show forth strength during every little challenge that may come your way, by being calm in the midst of it, as well as, make the entire planning process fun for your clients. Ultimately, your personality and the way you handle each situation will show what level of professionalism you have and can make a big difference in the type of wedding they have.

Weddings : Some Odd Traditions

For the rest of their lives, the man and woman shall be together.

Sounds romantic doesn’t it? A man and women leave their individual homes to start a new family of their own. It has been like this from time immemorial. Throughout the ages of time, having a family and being married are two notions the are so closely related, it is almost impossible to separate them.

Every culture in the world celebrates marriage in some way. Whatever the culture, legal aspect or how their society recognizes marriage, it is still the union of a man and woman living together in one dwelling.

Marriage has evolved in so many ways from the different cultures all throughout the world and over the ages of time. For each culture, there are different ways of celebrating marriage. But in each culture, there has always been one thing that has remained the same – that in every culture, every tribe, marriage has always been celebrated with the utmost of festivities, of singing, eating, and celebrating.

Adding to these festivities there has been several traditions that have developed even more along the way from their original beginnings and roots.

The Origin of the Wedding Cake Today’s tall, elaborate and delicately crafted wedding cakes evolved from the simple grooms-cakes made by family members for the bride. Before the wedding day, one of these cakes was put under the pillow of the bride. The bride would then sleep and dream of the groom, and yes, squish that cake into oblivion.

This cake could easily be termed as ’pound cake’ because it would be “pound up” and then they would give pieces to people to crumble and toss at the new couple as a sign of fertility. That is where the today’s custom of tossing rice on the bride and groom originally came from.

Cakes during weddings are usually stacked up in large layers. Of course, the more layers the more elegant the cake looks. The decorations on the cake are a fashionable choice of the bride and groom for their guest to enjoy. However, they were done so in the past as a symbol of fertility. Couples would stack these cakes to symbolize how many children they wished the couple to have. So in the past, the higher the stack, the more children they would have..

Tying the Knot

Now the truth can be told, tying the knot did not necessarily mean getting knotted together. An ancient custom was that the bride would be wrapped in sheep’s wool, draped around her body with a knot in the front of the covering. It was a symbol of virginity. The groom then had the honor of untying the knot on the wedding night.

Best Man or should I say, Secret Agent? The best man’s role was very different in its origins more so then you could ever begin to imagine. It was during tribal times that the best man was to go and get a bride from other tribes and bring her back to his people. He would usually club the tribal lady over the head and then begin to carry her back to his home tribe, sounds like something from a comic strip but it’s true. The best man would also have the responsibility to keep any angry relatives away. During these early ages, the best man would have club in hand while his friend, the groom married his newly found bride.

Today

Although we are less barbaric than earlier times, we still see an evolution of the wedding ceremony and its tradition. Having traditions and understanding them will help make your special day full of deep significance and meaning.
